These are the last of our M55 Finish helmets. They were all dented and banged up when they arrived from Finland. We knocked the dents out as best we could and repainted them and gave them a couple of coats of authentic Field-Grey paint and fitted with a new high quality Czech made reproduction liner. Theses are not perfect. The surface shows that we knocked the dents out, we did not completely strip them before giving them a quick paint job. They have been in storage in our warehouse for the last three years so the paint may be scratched. But add a decal or a camo cover and they look good great for reenactors or collectors who want an authentic looking helmet. Available in size 64 shell with 57 liner. (7-1/8) (Medium).
In 1955 the Finnish Army bought 50,000 helmets from the West-German firm HANS RÖMER GMBH, the model name was "Infanteriestahlhelme Deutsches Model." It was basically an M40 Helmet, identical to wartime produced shells and are often sold as such. We imported these helmets directly from Finland where they were used up until the late 1970's and then put away in reserve.
- These helmets were produced in Germany the 1950's for the Finnish Army. They are made of the same steel and construction as wartime models. The post war M-57 liner has been replaced with our high quality reproduction M-31 liner.
- The M1940 helmet was produced out of improved manganese-silicon steel and like the M1935, had rolled edges around the circumference of the helmet. The primary difference between the M1940 and the M1935 is in the shape of the air vents. The air vents on the M1940 helmet were stamped directly into the steel. M40 helmets were normally issued with only one branch of service decal for WH, LW, KM and Waffen SS forces.
