The 1914 Grand Cross of the Iron Cross (Großkruez) was instituted in 1914 by Kaiser Wilhelm II.  This award was originally created by King Frederick William III of Prussia in 1813 and again in 1870 by Kaiser Wilhelm I.  The Grand Cross was awared for outstanding military valor.  These are very nice reproductions featuring sharp details and very nice frosted or antiqued silver plating.  Includes the neck ribbon.

• The 1914 Grand Cross of the Iron Cross was the highest degree of Germany’s Iron Cross award, reserved for only the top leadership. The medal was awarded to just five individuals, including Kaiser Wilhelm II and generals Paul Von Hindenburg and Erich Ludendorff. This medal was worn suspended from a neck ribbon. Our reproduction is nickel-plated with a blackened center. The obverse displays the imperial crown, a “W” for Kaiser Wilhelm and the 1914 institution date. The reverse displays the imperial crown, the initials FW for Prussian King Frederick William III, a spray of oak leaves and the 1813 date for the award’s creation during the Napoleonic Wars.
