M56 Helmet was in Excellent condition. The mint condition leather liner has an NVA marking on it. The shell was marked with a 1984 date stamp. The helmet came with an unissued helmet net. It adds nicely to the helmet.
This is a great deal offered by Hessen to pick up a late model M56 Helmet!

Having spent a few days in the former DDR as an exchange student, this helmet brought back memories of seeing these soldiers at the border crossing and in East Berlin. Construction/quality is good for a former communist country (utilitarian).

The helmet was in completely new condition, with all the harness and fittings unused and pristine. It is adjustable, and this one fits a head slightly larger than average at the second largest setting. Of the old style steel helms, this is probably the most comfortable.
The provided net cover was much to small for the helmet, though.

Great Helmet! |

This is a mint condition Nationale Volks Armee helmet at an awesome price. Both the helmet and the camouflage netting were unissued. Helmet was unmarked & undated, but is a suitable color of grey-green (colors vary, of course, but not all are acceptable in my reenacting unit). As an assistant squad leader in my East German Army reenacting unit, I have contacted all my men and told them of this incredible deal. At this price, I plan to purchase more for loaner gear.
