Description

Extremely rare early East German P38 holster as used by the Volkspolizei (People's Police). As Germany was still recovering from WWII the Soviets approved the arming of a community-level police force in order to maintain civil affairs in the newly established Deutsche Democratic Republic. The "VoPo" were issued arms such as the P38 from military stocks left over from the war. This holster is copied from the war-time produced holsters with high grain, black leather construction in the "break away style". The holster features a scalloped, fold over top flap with a horizontally stitched, seam/hinge to the reverse with vertical leather tab and metal finial closure. The tab has torn on one side of the hole for the finial (see pictures) but is practically unnoticeable when closed .The face of the holster body has a vertically stitched on extra magazine pocket. It is ink stamped on the interior with manufacturing codes and the date or "54". The reverse of the holster features two sewn leather belt loops. Holster is in overall good condition with wear and surface scratching.
