Description

The 1870 Iron Cross Second Class (Eisener Kreuz 2. Klasse) was originally created by King Frederick William III of Prussia in 1813 as award for a single act of bravery. During the Franco-Prussian War, King Wilhelm I of Prussia re-authorized it's use in July 1870. Recipients of the 1870 Iron Cross who were still in military service in 1895 were authorized to wear above the cross a clasp of oak leaves with the numerals "25"  embossed into it for the 25th anniversary (Jubiläumsspange) of that same year. Comes with approximately 5" of corresponding ribbon.
